How does internet work?
Internet is basically a TCP/IP protocol which uses client/server/client connections. TCP/IP is this basic language of the protocols (or it can be said that TCP/IP is the set of rules over which internet could be accessed). This method consist of breaking up data in pieces known as packets and then it is reassembled at the destination (some protocols reassemble data before reaching at its destination). These packets are sent over a favourable path. I meant, for example, if you were to reach your home from market and there are two ways, from which the first one is through a crowded street and say distance from your home using this path is 8 kms and another route is of 10 kms but is much pleasant then the former, which one would you choose. Similar decisions is made by a server governing TCP/IP network (internet network). Client is the user which is using the internet and server is central computer of an internet network. TCP/IP is kind of layered network in which each layer do its job to provide a better experience with the network.
These layers are:-
1. Application
2. TCP
3. IP
4. Hardware
After the data reaches hardware, it is sent over the internet and then it is recombined by some other computer. Data sent is broken in the sequence listed above and it is recombined in the opposite sequence of the layers.
Each and every computer is associated with its unique ID and it is known as its IP address. IP address is of the for mmm.mmm.mmm.mmm where m is any number between 0-255. This number is helpful in identifying each computer itself and is also useful in investigating any cyber crime, in knowing which computer the criminal used and from where the criminal did it.
Here is an extra information about IP addresses, is that IP address of a computer is also known as internal IP address and IP address of the internet connection its using is known as external IP address. External IP address helps in determining the location and connection whereas internal IP address also helps in determining the location and the status of computer ,i.e., it is being used anymore, it is online or not.
